Faux Pas of Indiscretion

The greatest epiphanies occur at the most inopportune times. Whether lying restless in bed, trying to focus on one task at a time, or just enjoying the moment it is nearly impossible to turn off one’s mind. Like a well oiled machine, the thoughts that are generated produce a reality of one’s choosing. What seems like an option is actually a pre-determined pattern of behavior. The mind is an onion made of layers some of which hold a toxic chemical with the potential to make one cry unless neutralized by some vinegar (new behavior). People have the ability to reprogram their thinking, but it requires effort.
Analyzing the routines that have been ingrained into our daily lives is the stepping stone to reprogramming our actions to align with our goals. It is not a matter of trying to take action, like Yoda mentioned, “There is no try. Do or do not”. It is only through discomfort or unhappiness that action is triggered. When the desire or craving to achieve a set goal is greater than the momentary satisfaction, magically we become more willing to do what it takes to see results. It is always easier to put the excuse of I will start tomorrow, but how many tomorrows are you willing to throw away for what you could have done today?
