People Pizza

We all have a story and the ability to choose how that particular plot line affects us. At the base, our crusts are all different: cauliflower, sweet potato, white flour, whole grain flour, broccoli, zucchini, matzah, and many more. Nurture or culture is the sauce that changes the flavor of the crust and adds a dimensional profile. Seeing that we are the characters in a film of an inexplicable narrator, sometimes we confine ourselves to the image created in our heads rather than freeing ourselves to what we can potentially become. This way of thinking burns the crust which is the foundations for our beliefs and actions in life.

Any true Italian knows that a crunchy crust is thin but sturdy and slightly crisp. The dark spots are the mistakes we learn from that give our foundation a slight golden color. Sauce is our reminder that life can get messy because of our past but it’s optional whether we choose to keep it or not. Spices and toppings are the final touches: they make us who we are as we put one foot in front of the other each day. Some people are olives — green and salty with envy, but filled with red blood while others are dark on the outside because of an empty center— others are fun guy mushrooms; a portion may be slices of melt in your mouth eggplant; and the options go on. Just like toppings, our everyday presentation is what determines the type of pizza we choose to be on the menu of life.
